We view Corporate Social Investment as a business imperative. Pétanque seeks to contribute meaningfully towards the communities around us. Corporate Social Investment is part of who we are and what we do; not only as an enterprise, but also on an individual level.
Investing Time and Skills
We recognise the need for on the job experience by students. Pétanque offers graduates the opportunity to gain knowledge and experience through our mentorship initiatives.
Pétanque team members are supported to give their time and skills to community projects.
Donations
Instead of presenting corporate gifts, our approach is: let’s work funds in a different manner. We donate an amount per person to whom we would have given a corporate gift, to a worthy cause which crossed our path during the year.
This year we donate the funds to SA MAST (mass animal sterilisation) and the Elephant Sanctuary. The purpose of SA MAST is to avoid the birth of puppies and kittens into communities that cannot look after these animals. The Elephant Sanctuary provides a temporary home for young African elephants in need, with the vision to release all the elephants back into a semi wilderness area once they are older and experienced enough to fend for themselves in this type of environment. We further donate funds to a number of child and animal welfare organisations.
Environment
We aim for ‘green’ business operations as we are committed to understand and reduce the negative impact we may have on the environment in our work and personal lives. We encourage all efforts towards better use of resources in preserving the environment.
In celebration of the work we deliver, and in support of environmental sustainability, we plant a tree for every project through Food & Trees for Africa.
