Human Interaction
Working in the Pétanque environment -with our brand referring to the French boules game, and our newsletter being called ‘en route’- brings back my French that I learned in high school. I was reminded of this beautiful expression when I read MJ’s blog post about the benefits and disadvantages of email correspondence: “c’est le ton qui fait la musique”. Meaning: it’s not about WHAT you say, but HOW you bring your message across, your tone of voice. To me the lack thereof is one of the most important disadvantages of email, as it is so important in communication. You can get so much more done when you deliver your message in a nice way, and the receiver will be much more likely to actually receive and act on the message. At the end of the day communication is all about people interacting with each other, and it’s important to keep the human interaction central. It’ll only contribute to the purpose of the message.
