I went to Cape Town’s Two Oceans Aquarium over the weekend. I actually considered the aquarium a tourist attraction, but this is a must-see for all Capetonians. The sharks are a highlight of course, you can easily spend an hour in the Predator Arena to just watch them pass by and if you’re lucky you can see how they are being fed as well.


Pétanque has been contributing to the Aquarium’s Adopt-a-School programme for the second year in a row, and visiting the Aquarium I realised how meaningful this project is. In short, the Adopt-a-School programme enables previously disadvantaged learners to enjoy a specially-tailored hands-on learning experience, which includes classroom-based lessons on a variety of environmental conservation themes, and a tour of the Aquarium to discover the ocean's fauna and flora first-hand.
Basically it offers the kids to see something they’ve never had the opportunity to see before, and it allows them to learn a lot about life in the sea and have fun with their classmates at the same time.



The Aquarium put a puzzle on a wall to give exposure to the project and recognize the contributors, and to my surprise there are still many open pieces. In case your company is still looking for a CSI project: you might want to consider this one!
