Simply put: Pétanque adds clarity to business through a unique combination of methodology, experience and dynamism.
Pétanque is a game of skill, testing the participants' ability and so is business. Business is about knowing how to use the right tactics needed to attain the desired goal(s). It is about applying controls, information, processes and interfaces to move from a position of here to there.
Our business uses the principles of the game: we apply the right tools (the boules), design the tactics (the loop, lob, ctlank), focus on the target (the jack) and achieve the victory (score the points) whilst aligning to the bigger picture (in boules the bigger picture is to have fun in a competitive, team structure).
pétanque the game
- Going high - Going in high is the only way when the ground is rough. A rolling shot will not work, and you have to make the boule land where you want it to lie. This is not as easy as it sounds, it requires a very high shot with a lot of backspin on the boule.
- Rolling in - This is typically the first shot used by all players, as it is the easiest shot to perform. The ball is thrown about halfway and rolls the rest of the way.
- Rolling in for a hit - The rolling-hit is generally considered a bit of a cheat, but as long as it works, do it. You aim at the opponent's boule, and try to land a bit in front of it to make your boule roll into it and knock it away.
- Carreau - Carreau is the most difficult shot you can learn, but if you master it there is a bright future for you in pétanque.
